Lesson 3: Find and Replace Tools Objectives: Use the Find tool to find text Learn about Regular Expressions Find and Replace dialog window to replace text

Finding Text 1 The Find tool makes locating specific information in a document easy. Open the Find tool by: Pressing the keyboard shortcut Ctrl-F. Clicking the Edit tab, and then clicking the Find and Replace. 2

Find Options Find options allow you to tailor how you want the Find tool to work for you. Match case means your search is case sensitive. Regular expressions are special characters that allow you to search for multiple words at the same time. The OR operator (or a vertical bar) is a regular expression that allows you to search multiple words. This example will search for “their” or “there” at the same time .

Replacing Text The Find and Replace tool dialog windows allows you to find and then replace text in your document. To access the Find and Replace dialog window: Click the Edit tab, and then click Find and Replace. Pressing the keyboard shortcut Ctrl-H.
