VEX IQ Challenge Growth Total Number of Teams by Year The VEX IQ Challenge was introduced as a pilot initiative during the 2012/2013 season with 70 teams. It’s quickly grown to reach over 4,000 teams today. We expect the trend to continue in the current season as well given that the program is flexible, affordable and relatively easy to implement. We know this to be true given the response we’ve seen to entire school districts and states adopting the model and implementing in their school systems in locations like Florida, Indiana, Michigan, and Kentucky to name a few.

Robotics Certification In continuing our efforts to provide students a clear pathway to STEM careers, the REC Foundation introduced industry certifications in pre-engineering and robotics at the 2014 VEX Robotics World Championship. Students are expected to have at least 150 hours of pre-engineering or robotics classroom experience before pursuing certification The certifications are broken into several areas or modules outlined here Students are not limited in how many modules they take, but certain modules are required Finally, students earn both certifications when completing Robotics as those requirements exceed Pre-Engineering certification For more information, visit our website www.RoboticsEducation.org
