Parking System Improvements for 2017-2018 Carnegie Mellon University Parking System Improvements for 2017-2018 Facility Coordinator Meeting

Initiatives Automatic roll-over 2017-2018 rates Night and Weekend Parking Parking & Transportation Advisory Board

Automatic Roll-Over Current state: every parking space reallocated every year Going forward: current permit holders have a right of retention, and can waitlist for another location Current permit holders do not get “bumped” P&TS provides improved system administration

2017-2018 Rates For 2017-2018, the average parking rate will increase by $4.83 per month. It is expected, however, that continued improvements in the parking system will necessitate larger rate increases in future years.

East Campus Garage Night & Weekend Parking Based on feedback from all 4 representative bodies, there will be no change in night and weekend rates for the FY18 parking year. Proposed changes will be reviewed and discussed with the newly re-organized Parking Advisory Board. Full Night-Weekend charging model generates ~$300K/year in annual revenue

Parking & Transportation Advisory Board The PTAB provides: A forum for the campus community to consider and evaluate issues related to parking and transportation services including policy and operations Recommendations to the AVP for Facilities Management and Campus Services and the Vice President for Operations to form parking and transportation policy for CMU Fall 2017 launch Modeled after UNC Advisory Committee on Transportation & Parking (ACT) Broad faculty, staff, and student representation
