Presentation transcript:

“The Manner of Giving!” 1 Corinthians 16:1-2

Each of us know that it takes time, talent and money to support the work of the Lord’s Church. Thus, if an individual chooses to…

A useless chair The unbeliever says, “The Bible is useless,” and that “It’s impossible for anything useless to have a positive affect…”

Purpose: to learn the proper Biblical manner of giving particularly in the area of money

I As REVEALED in the Bible A. Giving Should be Regular B. Giving Should be Personal

Three preachers were discussing how they gave money to the Lord’s work…

I As REVEALED in the Bible A. Giving Should be Regular B. Giving Should be Personal C. Giving Should be Systematic

God should be given the first fruits…

I As REVEALED in the Bible A. Giving Should be Regular B. Giving Should be Personal C. Giving Should be Systematic D. Giving Should be Proportionate

Tithing: giving 1/10th of earnings = a good method to give proportionately!

II As APPROVED by God A. The Old Testament Law

Leviticus 17:30 “And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land or the fruit of the tree, is the Lord’s, it is holy unto the Lord.”

II As APPROVED by God A. The Old Testament Law B. Abraham Tithed Before the Law C. Tithing Has Always Been Approved by God

III As DONE Sacrificially A. What Sacrificial Giving is

Chicken and a pig were discussing which of them contributed the most to society…

III As DONE Sacrificially A. What Sacrificial Giving is B. Our Trust in God is Exposed

Conclusion and Summary “Let Me Think” If I give nothing, I cast a vote in favor of closing the church doors. If I give only to local support, I vote to stop missionary activity in the great world need. If I give grudgingly, I shall find no joy, nor receive the blessings of the Lord. If I give proportionately, I shall give some-thing even if, of necessity, it must be small If I give systematically, I make it possible for the local church to plan in advance.

Conclusion and Summary If I give sacrificially, I shall testify to the high value I place upon the church ministering to the physical and most importantly of all to the spiritual needs of a sin torn world! May we learn from God’s Word and encourage each other in the proper manner of giving!
