What Is A Church of Christ?

Church of Christ Not a building with “Church of Christ” on the sign Not a denomination among many different churches

Church “of” Christ “Of” refers to ownership; belonging to Christ People in a particular location belonging to Jesus Christ (Mt. 18:17; Acts 5:11; 8:1, 3; etc.)

Church “of” Christ A church of Christ is built by Jesus Christ upon the identity of Jesus as the Christ (Mt. 16:18) Not a church that is built by men, or a church that is built upon a man

Church “of” Christ A church of Christ wears the name of Jesus Christ (Acts 11:26; 26:28; 1 Pet. 4:16; Rom. 16:16; see also 7:4) Not a church that wears man-made names

Church “of” Christ A church of Christ is built upon the foundation of Jesus Christ (1 Cor. 3:10-11; Eph. 2:20-22; 1 Pet. 2:4-8) Not a church built upon a human foundation

A Church of Christ Today? Is it possible for a church of Christ to exist today in the 21st century? Yes! A seed can still produce a Christian (Lk. 8:11; 1 Pet. 1:23) The church still gives glory to God in this present generation (Eph. 3:21) God has given a kingdom that cannot be shaken (Heb. 12:28)

What Is A Church of Christ? Do you belong to a group of people (a church) that is truly “of” Christ? If not, make the change today! Be a part of the church belonging to Christ that will be in heaven (Heb. 12:23)
