Discussion Questions Sit where ever you would like today 12/08/14   Sit where ever you would like today Please complete this cross and list the genotypic and phenotypic frequencies and ratios. Tt x Tt T= Tall t = short

Genotypic Ratios: TT = 25% or 1:4 Tt = 50% or 2:4 tt = 25% or 1:4 Phenotypic Ratios: Tall = 75% or 3:4 Short = 25% or 1:4

Reminders All Science Fair Stuff is due Today- Board, Journals, Demo Items, Extra copies of abstract Tomorrow, we will go down and set up our projects. Make sure you registered for a space or you won’t have one. Root quiz 12-17-14 Exam 12-18-14 (chapters 10 & 11)

Today’s Objective: Objective: Identify and describe the stages and purpose of Meiosis as related to Genetics and Heredity. Review Mendel’s discoveries and simple Mendelian Genetics with monohybrid punnett squares

Dominant Fly Activity You and your partner(s) will get a baggie with two plastic eggs. The eggs represent the male and female gametes that have come together to create your baby fly…..aw!!! cute!  Fill in your chart listing what alleles your baby fly inherited, etc. Draw your fly at the bottom of your paper. If time remains, work on the Punnett Square Practice Problems from Friday and Meiosis Coloring from Thurs.. Everything goes in your journal

Exit Ticket 1. Please describe the purpose of meiosis. 2. What are homologous chromosomes? 3. Please describe Mendel’s research

Oral Conclusion Please describe the base pairing rules of DNA and of RNA Describe the structure of DNA How are RNA and DNA different? Describe DNA Replication. Describe Transcription Describe Translation Describe a mutation Describe a Frame Shift Mutation What are the monomers for each of the four biologic polymers? Please explain how mitosis and meiosis are different.
