I will be able to demonstrate my understanding of: Composing and decomposing shapes into known polygons Apply formulas for perimeter and area of triangles and rectangles Determine segment lengths using the coordinates of the endpoints So that I can apply these skills to solve real world problems I will show I know it when I can complete my study guide independently or with my partner with at least 80% accuracy. 6.GA.1 and 6.GA.3

Language Objective By the end of the lesson, students will be able to use the language domains of reading and writing communicate the academic math language of polygons. They will verbally communicate and write to compose and decompose shapes into known polygons. They will apply formulas for perimeter and area of triangles and rectangles as they communicate the math language of polygons. They will also determine segment lengths using the coordinates of the endpoints. They will complete their study guide independently or with my partner with at least 80% accuracy, solving real-world mathematical problems. Academic Math Language Vocabulary: compose, decompose, polygons, endpoints, tangents, coordinates

“STUDY GUIDE” 2. Test due Monday!

How do you feel? topic.

Agenda Complete “STUDY GUIDE” 10 mins. INDEPENDENTLY 10 mins. with partner 10 mins. with class

Use “Study Guide” and PACKET to complete your take home

Accommodations Read or reread presentation or activity directions, as needed or after prompting Use examples to model and act as a guide for emerging learners
