Piet Mondrian (1872-1944)

He was born in Holland in 1872.

He lived a long time in Paris France. This painting is called ‘The Sea’ This is a painting called ‘Gray Tree’.

Mondrian’s art. He first liked painting trees. ‘Apple Tree’ ‘Red Trees’

Then he started to paint like this using lots of straight lines to make rectangles and squares.

He liked to paint with blue, red, yellow and sometimes black.

He then started to paint his ‘lozenge’ shaped painting.

He liked to listen to music called ‘swing’ when he painted.

He also lived and worked in London and New York in America.

He died in New York when he was 72 years old He died in New York when he was 72 years old. This is my favourite painting.
