CARDFIELDS Environmental Studies Centre

The Centre The centre is situated in a beautiful area of Essex countryside, and is surrounded by farmland. The house is used as residential accommodation. The outbuildings are used as classrooms and activity areas. Cardfields is staffed 24 hours a day.

The Grounds Cardfields has 5 acres of gardens available. There is a football pitch, basketball/tennis court, lawns and picnic area.

The Accommodation Cardfields has group bedrooms including staff bedrooms. The bedrooms sleep from 4 to 8 pupils. Pupils take their own sleeping bags. All the other bedding is provided for school groups.

The Communal Space Cardfields has a large comfortable lounge, equipped with a small library and board games. Meals are of a high standard, and special dietary needs are catered for. All food is cooked on the premises.

Possible Activities BMX Biking - Children can have the opportunity to learn how to ride a BMX bike on the beginners track as well as children who are confident riders can use the more advance track. Bush Craft - Children will learn how to light a fire, and cook on fires.

Possible Activities Art (Screen Printing) - Children will have the opportunity to make effective use of a printing screen. Team Challenges - Children have the opportunity to take part in various team challenges and use the games room.

Orienteering & Walks Compass skills - Children will be able to identify how a compass works, and apply in a practical setting. Walk to Heather Hills using orienteering skills - Children will be able to navigate a course using a site plan and work together as a team.

Next Steps A payment letter will be sent out in the next few days. A non-refundable £50 deposit will be required to secure your child’s place (via Parent pay). The remainder of the payment will then need to be made in instalments (per month). A timetable, medical forms, kit lists and travel times will be sent out nearer the time.
