Mrs. Kostellic’s 1st Grade Week of: January 7th, 2019 Mon. 1/21-NO SCHOOL MLK Day Fri. 1/25 Winter Carnival This week we will start working on two-digit addition. We will be doing some work in our common core workbook. We do not take home the pages in this book. Also, please try to practice writing to 120 and orally counting to 120. We will be reading “Ruby in Her Own Time.” The genre of this story is animal fiction. Our phonics skill is compound words and nk/ng final blends, which you can see in our spelling words. This week will will be starting our penguin unit. We will be learning about the different types of penguins, where they live, and so much more. We will even make a penguin book with all of our new penguin facts. We are continuing our informational writing unit from Lucy Calkins. Writing about ideas we can teach others about.
