What is Malaria? Infection caused by protozoan species. Usually transferred to humans by mosquito bites. Several different types of malaria More dangerous in infants and children.

Who Can Get Malaria? People living or traveling in Central and South America, Africa, and Southeast Asia

How do you get Malaria? Mosquitoes carry a parasite that causes the disease.

What are the Symptoms? Light headedness Shortness of breath Tachycardia Fever Chills Nausea Flu-like illness Severe cases can cause seizures, coma and death Symptoms occur 7-14 days after exposure

What Should I Do If I Might Have Malaria? See Dr. Immediately Malaria can be fatal if not treated in the early stages of the disease.
