Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. 23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Those Who Justifying the Wicked and Condemnation of the Just Proverbs 17:15 They Condemn Christians & God’s Word Say we are “unjust” and “lack tolerance” Say we are “out of step” Say we are “homophobic and prejudiced” Say we promote “hatred” & “hate speech” They Hold Those Who “Justifieth the Wicked” and “Condemneth the Just” In High Esteem As in Isaiah’s day - Isaiah 5:20-23 “woe” - An expression of grief, cf. Matthew 23:13-16, 23, 25, 27, 29 Prov. 17:15 - He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both are abomination to the LORD. Isa. 5:20-23 - Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! 21 Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight! 22 Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink: 23 Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him! Conclusion Be on the Lord’s Side - Exodus 32:26 Obey God, not man - Acts 5:29 Do not be involved in ABOMINATION Heed the wisdom of God and His word “14 Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men. 15 Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away” - Proverbs 4:14-15 Ex. 32:26 - Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the LORD'S side? let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him. Acts 5:29 - Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men. Prov. 4:14-16 - 14 Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men. 15 Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away. 16 For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall. 17 For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence. 18 But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.
