A Church Devoted to Christ Is Devoted to which Habits? Acts 2:42-47

Devoted to...? What does it mean to devote oneself to something? What am I devoted to?

The church was devoted to... The apostles' teaching The fellowship The breaking of bread Prayer

Apostles' Teaching What did the apostles teach?

Fellowship (Koinonia) We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. 1 John 1:3,7

Fellowship (Koinonia) Now, however, I am on my way to Jerusalem in the service of the Lord’s people there. For Macedonia and Achaia were pleased to make a contribution for the poor among the Lord’s people in Jerusalem. They were pleased to do it, and indeed they owe it to them. For if the Gentiles have shared in the Jews’ spiritual blessings, they owe it to the Jews to share with them their material blessings. Romans 15:25-27

Breaking of Bread “While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.” Matthew 26:26

Prayer They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers. Acts 1:14 Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. Colossians 4:2

Signs and Wonders He sent his signs and wonders into your midst, Egypt, against Pharaoh and all his servants. Psalm 135:9 It is my pleasure to tell you about the miraculous signs and wonders that the Most High God has performed for me. Daniel 4:2

Signs and Wonders For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. Matthew 24:24 The apostles performed many signs and wonders among the people. And all the believers used to meet together in Solomon’s Colonnade. Acts 5:12 Now Stephen, a man full of God’s grace and power, performed great wonders and signs among the people. Acts 6:8

Sharing to Meet Needs All the believers were together and had everything in common.  They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Acts 2:44-45

Meet Daily in Public Religious Place Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. Acts 2:46

Meet in Homes They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts. Acts 2:46

Worship “...praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people.” Acts 2:47

Daily Evangelism And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. Acts 2:47
