Warm-UP: April 14, 2017 (5-10 minutes) Come in quietly and continue reading chapter 3 If NOT finished. If finished answered these questions in your spiral – write in complete sentences. Chapter 1 and 2 What is the basic situation in Cryptid Hunters? Chapter 3 purpose : Character Analysis Who are the Bishops? Marty demonstrates that he is versatile, - meaning he is multitalented. Cite text evidence from this chapter (or earlier) that would justify this statement. Grace demonstrates that she is perceptive, meaning observant or having or showing sensitive insight. Cite text evidence from this chapter to confirm this character trait. Who is Noah Blackwood? Does he know about Grace and Marty’s parents? Cite a line to support the second part of the question What do you think Blackwood’s relationship is with Wolfe? Who do you think the woman Blackwood and his team are trying to find? Why do you think Blackwood’s team is desperately looking for the woman? Separate sheet of paper - If finished continue with chapter 4.

Chapter 3 - #2 Marty demonstrates that he is versatile, - meaning he is multitalented Marty demonstrated versatility, or that he is multitalented when Bertha reveals she is Wolfe’s cook. The narrator goes on to say, “…when he [Marty] wasn’t drawing, painting, sculpting, or cartooning, Marty was in the kitchen learning everything he could about the culinary arts.” (p.25). Furthermore, earlier at the end of chapter 1, the camps that Marty went to, such as mountain climbing camp, shows he is adventurous or athletic (p.10).

Chapter 3 - #3 Grace demonstrates that she is perceptive, meaning observant or having or showing sensitive insight. When Marty spots the older couple with the O’Hara sign he suggests that Phil was Travis Wolfe and his mom’s older brother. Grace replied back by saying, “that can’t possibly be Uncle Travis.” The twins ended up betting a dollar on it and she was correct when they approached and Marty found out it was not Wolfe. This demonstrates her perceptiveness because she noticed that Phil did not look anything like her mother (p.22).
