Writing Warm-up (Letter to Self) Write a letter to yourself about the expectations of this course, and how you define yourself as a writer. Please respond to the following questions: What type of writer are you (creative, academic, business, etc)? Why? Do you enjoy writing? Why or why not? Are you confident in your writing abilities? Why or why not? What are your expectations for this course? In other words, what are you hoping to learn from this course? What does the word “literacy” mean to you?

Groups – Acts of Literacy I had already listed some acts of literacy. Think about literacy events that you participate in or in which you have participated. As a group, make a list of different acts of literacy. Report back as a class.
Literacy Logs Until the next class, try to keep track of as many literacy events that you participate in as possible.
