John the Baptist had been thrown into prison…(Luke 3: 20) “So he left Judea and went back once more to Galilee. Now he had to go through Samaria. The Pharisees are growing in their jealousy against Jesus (John 4: 1)

The Circumstance: Reach people where they’re at John 4: 5-9 “…“Will you give me a drink?”… “You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. …(For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.)

2) The Contact: from the physical to the spiritual v. 10-15 Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.”
