Today’s Objective: Oct. 13, 2015 I will estimate, make a table of values, and use place value to divide multi-digit numbers using the division algorithm. I will demonstrate my understanding when I can independently complete the odd numbered problems of pg. 60 using the division algorithm. (6.NS.B.2)

Oct. 13, 2015 Review/Home-work Check Practice Closing H.W. update & T.T.G.

ESTIMATING : pg. 56 Oct. 13, 2015 The quotient of 14,175 and315 should be about 50.

Pg. 57: Oct. 13, 2015

Pg. 57: Oct. 13, 2015

Pg. 58: Oct. 13, 2015

Pg. 58: Oct. 13, 2015

Pg. 59: Oct. 13, 2015

Classwork Students will estimate, make a table of values, and use place value to divide multi-digit numbers using the division algorithm to work independently on the odd problems on page 60 using their white boards. Students will then turn and check their answers with their neighbor. Finally there will be a whole class check-in

Explain in your own words how the division algorithm works. Closing: Oct. 13, 2015 Explain in your own words how the division algorithm works. The division algorithm shows successive (one after the other) estimates of the quotient organized by place value, …..other answers…… the division algorithm breaks one large division problem into several smaller ones organized by place value.

Pg. 60 Do in notebook Even numbers only (2,4,6,8…) Oct. 13, 2015
