Population Chapter 8

At the end of class you should Be able to: Define what Population is. Understand why the population of the world has increased at a fluctuated and uneven rate.

Can you tell me anything about this figure? 7,208,019,207 Total World Population this morning at 07.40 a.m.

Population is… the amount of people living in an area e.g. Town or City.

Today… By 2011 the World Population reached 7 Billion. Every year the population increases (grows) by 83 Million or 1.6 Million every week. This was not always the case.

Rapid Population Growth Over the past century World population growth has become more and more rapid. WHY? From 1750, world population began to grow steadily. WHY? In Early times the population Grew very slowly and even Fluctuated (Decreased as well as increased). WHY?

Fluctuation Fluctuation is when the population increases and decreases.
