Year 7 Camp 2015 Balcombe Camp – Autumn 2015

Staff Mr Cook (Head of Outdoor Education) Mr Sobey (Outdoor Education Teacher) Miss Brown (Head of Year 7) Mr Stacey (Pastoral Manager) Mark Reeves (Young Spirit) Other teaching staff and outdoor instructors ALL Staff involved with camp are suitably qualified and are DBS checked.

Where it all began. Started in 2002 Taken over 2,600 students to Fresher’s Camp Used over 75 members of Staff Over 300 Sixth Formers used as Student Leaders

Balcombe Camp Balcombe Camp is situated in a remote woodland on the fringes of the Dart Valley Camping in purpose built log cabins Group cooking and communal meeting area in a large wooden built shelter Toilets Member of staff on duty 24 hours a day for any incidents/problems Focus is on environmental awareness, self-sufficiency and fun!

Evening Activities “I’m a Year 7, get me out of here” Bushtucker Challenge! This is your opportunity for your team to demonstrate their bravery and is a test of how at one with nature you really are!

Food Students learn traditional cooking skills and prepare their own meals supervised by staff Any food allergies or dietary requirements please write on S0E3 forms. This is essential.

Medical Info All info must be stated on SOE3 forms The school first aider will collect in medicines before leaving for camp. Please put in plastic bag and clearly labelled with name of student and details Mr Cook will have overall responsibility for all First Aid All activities will have first aid kit with instructor. Please ensure emergency contact details are accurate.

Kit list Please pay careful attention to the kit list. ESSENTIAL ITEMS; Waterproofs Wellies/boots Sleeping bag Any medicines necessary
