Literature: Tuesday, October 23, 2018 Handouts: * Lit Test #3, Folk Lore—test and answer sheet Homework: * Read an AR book 20 – 30 minutes daily & record on chart Meet your AR Goal by this Friday, October 26. Assignments Due: * Did you study for today’s test? We’ll soon find out!

Today’s Goal: Demonstrate what they have learned in Literature by taking Lit Test #3: Folk Lore Unit. Outcomes: [Let’s move on to our next slide.] Define these lit terms: folk lore, myth, fable, legend, folk tale, oral traditions, hyperbole, idiom, generalization, theme, character traits, foreshadowing, Greek chorus, cause-and-effect, moral, and mood. Define and identify these terms: Oracle, metamorphosis, fate, demigod, foreboding. Apply their knowledge by identifying examples of the above terms in a given text. Define these power verbs: Analyze, evaluate, summarize, identify, explain, examine. Analyze portions of folk lore by correctly answering multi-leveled questions. Demonstrate their ability to follow directions and adhere to testing procedures.

2) Place your AR book underneath your chair. Starter #1 Prepare for today’s test: 1) Take everything off from your desk. I will provide a pencil. I will hand out the pencils and Scantron forms once you have everything off your desk. Please do this quickly. Thanks! 2) Place your AR book underneath your chair. 3) If you don’t have an AR book, borrow one from the cove. Please be sure to return Mrs. D’s books to the correct shelf. 4) When you finish your test, you will read your book.

Starter #2: How to fill out your test answer sheet. On the gray side of your Scantron answer sheet, in the upper right-hand side of the sheet, fill out this info: Name First & Last Name (printed neatly) Subject Lit Test #3: Folk Lore Unit Date Oct. 23, 2018 Period: 6-D or 6-M Do NOT make any other marks on your answer sheet. Do NOT make any marks on your tests.

Starter: Prepare for today’s test. . . . 1) Take everything off from your desk. 2) Place your AR book on your desk or under your chair. 3) If you don’t have an AR book, borrow one from Mrs. D now. 4) Remain seated and maintain zero voice the entire period. 5) If you need a tissue, make the “T” symbol and I’ll bring one. 6) If your pencil lead breaks, raise the pencil and I’ll replace it. 7) When you finish, check your work, then raise your hand. I will collect your test, answer key, and pencil. 8) Read your book for the remainder of the period. 9) Do not ask to do anything other than read. 10) No restroom breaks this period—don’t even ask. 11) No AR tests on Chromebooks—don’t open them at all.
