APPLICATIONS OF AQUEOUS EQUILIBRIA Review

DO NOW Get out homework handouts. Lab will be set up through Monday afternoon. Lab is due Tuesday in class – you can work on it during class Monday or start reviewing for AP test.

Review CONCEPTS Recall the definition of a buffer. Understand how a buffer works. Be able to identify and calculate the pH of a buffer solution. Understand the techniques and procedures associated with titrations. Be able to sketch titration curves and be able to suggest a suitable indicator for a particular titration.

Review concepts Understand the hydrolysis of salts and the effect this has on pH. Understand the meaning of the term 'equivalence point‘. Understand how indicators work. Be able to solve for Ksp, molar solubility, and concentrations of ions in an ionic compound.

Test format 16 multiple choice 3 free response (nine parts)

Homework check Need paper, something to write with and a calculator

WORK ON lab Please make sure everything is back where it belongs, clean and dry. Be sure the Universal indicator pipet is clean! Wear goggles.

DO NOW Prepare for test Pick up free response packet – need to go through it. Quiz over one of the free response questions next Friday. Pick up Multiple Choice packet. Quiz next Wednesday over 15 of them. Your homework should be on your desk.
