Summary The New Mexico DPS TraCS project has been a multi-phase, multi-year program designed to install, configure, and deploy Traffic and Criminal Software (TraCS) to 450 New Mexico State Police and Motor Transportation Officers statewide This project has provided electronic collection and management of Traffic Data for NMDPS and its partnering stakeholders. We request Close Out certification approval for this successful project.
Project Purpose Improve the timeliness of driver and vehicle information needed by the courts in New Mexico. Improve data sharing of New Mexico Traffic Safety Data with internal and external stakeholders Help identify priorities for National, State, Local, and Tribal highway safety programs.
Business Objectives The following Business Objectives have been met: Increased efficiency and productivity by reducing and eliminating manual, paper-based processes, which contribute to high costs and overhead expenses. Optimized business processes by decreasing the time for the creation of citations and reporting to the courts. Improved accuracy on citations and crash reporting Decrease in time issuing citations to violators Standardized forms utilized by officers around the state Developed an interface for electronic submission of traffic safety data to NMDOT database Developed process for adding external agencies to TraCS Improved the tracking of citations and crash reporting
Business Objectives – Cont. Decreased the time administratively of have to track citations and crash reports Positive feedback has been given from the officers in regards to TRACS system Improved supervisors ability to retrieve citations and crash reporting documents Improved the ability to combine all documents into one incident number in the TRACS system
Technical Objectives The following Technical Objectives have been met: Install required TraCS hardware and software in NM State Police and Motor Transportation Police vehicles. Develop client/server architecture for TraCS clients and TraCS database Export NMDPS TraCS data to NMDOT traffic safety reporting database The following interface is transferred to the NMDOT for TraCS to AOC Develop interfaces between DPS and Magistrate Courts for exporting electronic citation information from TraCS database to Magistrate Court Odyssey Case Management System Instead of interfacing to individual courts it will be one interface, DPS TraCS to AOC
