Tianjin Motorcycle Technical Center TMTC’s proposal for GTR2 Part-B3 3.6 (EPPR-25-10 GTR2 Part-B1-B2-B3 consolidated text 20180918) Tianjin Motorcycle Technical Center

GTR2 Part-B3 3.6 Current ‘EPPR-25-10 GTR2 Part-B1-B2-B3 consolidated text 20180918’ GTR 2 , Part-B3, 3.6 : 3.6 [The type II emission test shall be conducted immediately after the type I emission test. In any event, if Type-II test is required to be conducted independent of Type-I test , the engine shall be warmed up until all coolant or lubricant temperatures have reached at least 70 °C.] GTR 2 , Part-B3 , point 3.6 is replaced by the following: 3.6 The type II emission test shall be conducted immediately after the type I emission test. In any event, if Type-II test is required to be conducted independent of Type-I test , the vehicle should be warmed up according to the manufacturer’s technical document. If technical documents have not specific requirements, the engine shall be warmed up until all coolant or lubricant temperatures have reached at least 70 °C, or motorcycles should be driven at least 600s under normal road conditions. TMTC’s proposals

GTR2 Part-B3 3.6 Justification: 1. EU 44/2014. : ‘warm-up cycle’ means vehicle operation whereby the coolant temperature rises by at least 22 K from engine start-up to at least 343,2 K (70 °C); 2. Lubricant temperatures of more than 30 motorcycle types in China have been measured after the type I emission test. These data show that the temperatures range from 70 to 100 °C. Recently, Lubricant temperatures of 24 motorcycles in China have been measured after the type I emission test. These data show that the temperatures over 70 °C.

GTR2 Part-B3 3.6 3. In GTR 2, part 1of WMTC in cold condition is 600s. The real road driving under normal road conditions is similarly with WMTC. After motorcycle being driven through 600s, the temperature before catalyst can steadily reach over 300~350℃. It could make the catalyst work normally. So we suggest that ‘Motorcycles should be driven at least 600s under normal road conditions’. catalyst
