Professional Review Panel

Professional Review Panel Purpose: To provide support, advice, and direction to administrators in matters related to employee work Professional, working conditions, and other personnel issues to ensure a quality workforce. Goal: To help employees grow and change so as to be successful. The PRP process is a positive way to improve employee work performance.

Professional Review Panel Supports administrators with monitoring and evaluating an employee’s work performance. Supports administrators in developing, monitoring, and evaluating an employee’s plan of action or professional development plan. Assists administrators in preparing letters to employees. Provides advice related to procedure to follow in personnel matters.

Professional Review Panel Facilitates the collection of necessary documents related to employee matters. Provides administrators with a summary of employee’s work history and job performance. Identifies staff development needs of supervisors to increase their knowledge of personnel issues and legal matters. Attorney reviews all Professional Review Panel documents.

Professional Review Panel All employees who are struggling need to be discussed at the PRP. EARLY, EARLY is BEST!!! All employees who received an unsatisfactory on their annual evaluation need to be scheduled with the PRP. Not a punishment or threat – employees will receive a letter from the panel informing them of the concerns and the plan for improving their performance. They do not know they are being referred.

Professional Review Panel Chief Academic Officer and Executive Director of Human Resources (Co-chairs). Director of Employment Services and Director of Professional Learning. Appropriate Executive Director of School Governance or Chief Officer. Supervisor (Principal or Department Head). Others as deemed appropriate by the Chair (such as Senior Director of Curriculum/Instruction, Content Director, or other Functional Area Expert).

Professional Review Panel Convenes every week as a standing meeting. Executive Director or Chief Officer reviews the completed PRP form and notifies HR to schedule the PRP. Employee does not attend.

Professional Review Panel Begins with a review by Human Resources of the employee’s official file, to include education, training, work history, and Professional history. Chief Officer or Executive Director of School Governance gives an overview of the current concern or issue (from PRP referral form). Supervisor responds to questions. Meetings are followed up with plans of action and letters to the employee which includes the date of follow-up review (30-45-60 days).
