9. What was happening in the Northwest Territory during Washington’s Presidency?

Spain, Britain, the United States, and Native Americans were all claiming lands in North America

10. Why did Washington send troops to the Ohio Valley?

He believed that this territory was critical to the security and growth of our new nation. We must protect this land!

11. Who is “Mad” Anthony Wayne?

General who led troops North of Ohio River to fight off Native Americans and secure the Ohio Valley

12. What were the results of the Battle of Fallen Timbers?

Natives lost around 40 men and were forced to sign the Treaty of Greenville
