Presentation transcript:

PT1 – Upcoming Due Dates Today – Beginning of class Final draft of your individual research report. (Hard copy and turnitin.com) Late reports will loss 20% per day. Today – During class First draft of your team solution to your research question. (Hard copy only – one per team) Tuesday, Oct. 30 First 4 groups will give their presentations to the class.

Tips for Your Team Presentation Clearly identify your research question and solution Have a purpose to the order you present Have a specific purpose to each slide (it’s not just a picture; it needs to be part of what you’re explaining) Rehearse. A LOT. With a timer. (8-10 minutes) Discuss other perspectives, other possible solutions and limitations of your solution Cite your sources in your presentation (this is something that could be written on note cards—names and numbers are hard to remember) Include a works/images cited slide at the end Be prepared for the Oral Defense questions

Tips for Formatting Your Slides Generally only use one graph, chart or visual per slide Words on the slide should summarize the main idea of that slide – it’s ok to repeat it verbally as well Minimize use of animation, a little goes a long way Don’t try to incorporate video or audio clips – technical difficulties will throw off your timing and fluster your group Remember to cite any visuals (graph, chart or image). This can be done on the slide and also in your list of works cited at the end
