The Dewey Decimal System Britney Keith MEDT 6463 Spring 2011

What are we learning? This presentation is for upper elementary students (grades 3 – 5). The purpose of this presentation is to inform students of Dewey Decimal Classification, its purpose, and how to use it in order to locate books in the media center.

What is the Dewey Decimal System? Why do I need to know about it? The Dewey Decimal System was created by Melvil Dewey in order to make it easier to find books in the library. Knowing how to use the DD system will help you be able to find a book of a specific topic/genre without spending a great deal of time.
