Objective: Check progress, learn how to properly cite research. Project Check In Objective: Check progress, learn how to properly cite research.

Home Page Needs to be aesthetically pleasing Needs to meet the requirements found on p.4 Needs to be the first page on your website

Research Page Pick one topic (either a famous battle or a famous person) 5 pictures (can be done in a slideshow) 500 word summary (roughly one page) One piece of multimedia related to your topic Aesthetically pleasing

Works Cited Page Easy Bib (www.easybib.com) Useful Resources Requirements Easy Bib (www.easybib.com) Citation Machine (www.citationmachine.net) Bibme (www.bibme.org) Links to at least 3 other websites, with a brief description above each link This page must be well organized and neat You must also include information on where you got your pictures, videos, and other media You must include the date and time that you accessed the information

Presentation Presentations should be 2-3 minutes in length, and will be limited to 3 minutes. If you go over time, Mr. Stanley will end your presentation and you will lose points. Likewise if you are significantly under 2 minutes you will be penalized The majority of this time will be spent on your Research page, but be sure to show your Home page and Works Cited page When you are presenting be sure to make eye contact with the audience, speak in a loud and clear voice, and avoid fidgeting. You also need to avoid reading from your website; your audience can read your content if they wish. You may play media such as music or videos but they cannot take up too much time. You will be penalized if too much time is spent showing media. Finally, while listening to other student’s presentations you must show respect. If this is an issue you will be docked points.

Scoring Guide Category Score Home Page __/20 Research page __/30 Works Cited __/10 Presentation __/40

Why Works Cited? Gives due credit to people who work hard to create something Useful for keeping track of where you found resources Allows teacher to check your work Can serve as a stepping stone for further research

How to set up a Works Cited page Most bibliography tools will do most of the work for you It is helpful to keep a notepad handy while researching so that you can write down URL’s and the time of access Time of access is important in case the website changes Entries are to be sorted alphabetically

Mixer SILENTLY move around the room and find several other people that have similar topics Find them by SILENTLY acting out what your topic is (using gestures, hand signals, faces, etc.) Once told by the teacher, begin sharing notes with these other students This way you can get ahead on your research and help others out
