Presentation transcript:

Nervousness is natural and should be expected. Thrive on it. Pray Think about those who will be in the class and pray for them – this class is for them. The actual presentation of your lesson will vary slightly based upon multiple factors: The teacher and his comfort level The class location (auditorium, large room, small room) The class size (large group, middle-sized group, small group) The class members (older Christians, young adults, teenagers, new Christians, visitors) You will need to adjust slightly your plans for presentation to match the class dynamics. Nervousness is natural and should be expected. Thrive on it. Be enthusiastic about teaching the Bible and about the Bible’s abiding relevance to us.

Make a habit of getting to class “on time,” which means early. Begin each class with a prayer (especially on Sunday mornings). Use your notes and stick to your notes. Be open and welcoming to comments and questions in class. Prepare open-ended questions (in your notes) to ask in class, to encourage participation. Realize that not every response will be correct and be careful how you respond. Try to incorporate responses into the class if possible. “I don’t know” and “I’ll find out and get back to you” are good and acceptable answers. Maintain control as the teacher over the discussion.

Lean on the mature, knowledgeable Christians in the class for support. Don’t teach what you don’t know for certain and haven’t studied thoroughly (James 3:1). Do not raise questions that you cannot answer or leave any lingering doubts. Lean on the mature, knowledgeable Christians in the class for support. Wrap up the class in a nice package at the end. What are the main lessons to be learned from the study? What are the main take-aways that can be used to build faith? What are the main applications to be made to everyday life? Give a brief summary of the main highlights of the class.
