Overall Course Objectives: Understand the benefits and costs of process improvement. Learn what the CMMI is and how it is structured. Learn why somebody would use the CMMI. Become familiar with the structure and the contents of the CMMI. Enable the application of CMMI in real life situations.

It describes CMMI, its role, history of development and revisions and the potential benefits via using CMMI. The major other standards are briefly introduced and related to CMMI subjects.
