How to outsmart your Smartphone

Why becoming best buddies with your smartphone is a smart thing! Tool for communication. Can be sent via email, text, and a good ol’ fashion phone call. Tool for organization Apps like a CRM, Credit Card processing, calendars, and Rolodex. Tool for promoting a business Apps like Instagram, MyBusiness, Facebook Pages, Messenger, Twitter

What is important to know: It isn’t as daunting as it seems K.I.S.S – Keep It Simple Sweetie Meant to help not hinder Only get what you would use It isn’t as daunting as it seems. If we remember that we are smarter than our smartphones, then it is easy to remember that we can and will make our phones work for us. K.I.S.S. -> Apps are there to simplify our lives, by working to keep us organized. How many of us have messy desks, or have had at some point. Apps are meant to help not hinder. If we can remember that we have a device to simplify what we need, and to keep it all in one place, then we may be able to conquer the phone. Only download the apps that you will use. Disable the ones that you don’t, and use the “Pages” or “Folders” to the best possible use. Keep business and personal apps separate so as not to feel overwhelmed. If social media apps confuse you, or the notifications cause a feeling of overwhelming panic, then don’t download them. Keep using the desktop versions.

My go to apps are on this page. Facebook, Facebook Pages, and messenger are my primary apps for keeping up to date with my friends, updating my customers, and keeping in touch with them. Twitter is there because I do check it sometimes, but I don’t utilize it well. Camera and Instagram we will talk about in a bit. My point of sale or square app for credit card processing. Google my business I just reinstalled, so I will show you how to go through that process. Mass Text is a new app that I am starting to play around with to send out the same text to many contacts, or to repeat a previous text. CamCard is one that many of you have heard me rave about, and if someone wants more information about it, I will go through it after. I have my cloud storage apps, quickbooks for my bookkeeping client, and my calendar. About the calendar, I do still have a paper one, but I use the digital one the most, simply because I forget to look at the paper one.

Instagram, Twitter, Facebook Live, Pages, and Messenger These are platforms to do commercial type promotions. If we consider that commercials are 30 seconds to promote a business or product, and translate that to social media, twitter you have 140 characters and a picture to share your product. Instagram and facebook have not nearly as many limitations about posting, but there is still an unwritten guideline to be effective. How many of us have seen something in our daily travels, and thought, Oh, my audience would love this. Using your phone allows you to post or share something in that instant, or at least take a picture or take a note to remind ourselves. Instagram, Twitter, Facebook Live, Pages, and Messenger

Camera Plays well with most apps. Instagram is for showing our business

If your business is not on Google My Business, You are not on the web.
