Presentation transcript:

THE SCIENTIFIC INVESTIGATION OF UFOs By Bruce Maccabee This research report was written nearly 30 years ago as a partial rebuttal to the Colorado University UFO research report (1969; the “Condon Report”) of the same official name. This paper discusses in depth the Battelle/Air Force study which was carried out in the early 1950’s and which was more “scientific” in many ways that the Colorado study. It was not mentioned in the Colorado document.

Although Project Blue Book Special Report #14 (1955) was been discussed in other publications, this is the only publication that reports the result of revising the statistical tests. There are also other unique research results presented here, including the first careful analysis of Case 10 which is one of the most important sightings in the early years.

The following presentation consists of pictures (scans) of the original pages of the published documents. I have kept the resolution low to minimize the size of this document.

Source of the Rogue River Report The following pages show the Air Intelligence Information (IIR) report that was the first report of the Rogue River case. This is the source of the drawings in Case 10 of BBSR14. This Air IIR was not found until the 1990’s (by John Greenewald of the “Black Vault”) and so was not discussed in my original version of this research document. Although the IIR is not completely readable, it appears that the witness who sent the IIR was Don Heaphy, who worked on the 1 x 3 ft wind tunnel. It is unfortunate that his name was not available in the 1970’s when I was researching the Rogue River case (not available because it was crossed off from every then-available document). The other Ames employee, who worked in the drafting section, was Gilbert Rivera. (If any person who reads this can provide any information on these men or acquaintances to whom they might have reported their story, I would be interested in contacting said person(s).)
