Our Church context consist of : Non-attending young people who are members in the Church. Confirmation & Catechism Youth Fellowships Junior Church Anglican Youth Fellowship Servers Guild Choirs Youth attending services and nothing else Sunday School AND OTHERS GFS Guild of Bernard Mzeki ASF ANSOC Church Lads Brigade Mary Magdalene And young people who are members of guilds, ministries and organisations Happenings Church Girls Brigade

AYSA 13 18 35+ CHILDREN YOUTH / ADOLESCENCE YOUNG ADULTS AYSA currently covers ALL children, young people and young adults – ages 0 to 35+ Who are baptised in the Anglican Church – Whether they are in a guild/youth/organisation, or not, And includes ALL organisations/guilds that have young people as members (within a Diocese).

Who are we (AYSA) and PYC?????? The YOUTH at large ! (AYSA) Parishes P P P P P P P P P P P P Deaconaries Arch- In each Parish ALL the young people in guilds, organisations, youth, and ordinary church attendees, etc. fall under youth (or, the young). The same applies all the way up to Diocesan level. So what is PYC’s (AYSA’s) Action Plan? Fostering & active promotion of our common identity in AYSA thereby integrating all young people related ministries To establish an ACSA children’s and youth ministry team to address issues such as training and development of teachers and children’s workers, development of leadership skills, recommendations on facilities required, dealing with abuse of all forms, and to provide resources to all dioceses. That this team pursue provision of entry level training on theology, Anglicanism, policy and pastoral standards (code of conduct), and liturgy for all Sunday school teachers, youth leaders and youth pastors – i.e. personal theological formation. Ex. Consultation 2012

ACTION PLAN . . . Part 2 Ex. Consultation 2012 Development of a holistic and continuous outcomes based syllabus for children and young people with ongoing support through the establishment of an AYSA support office. Creation of alternative teaching & training mediums and methodologies (Cartoons, YOUTUBE, TV, etc.) Develop youthful liturgies and guidelines for the use by children and young people Development of an AYSA Operations manual. Establish a Provincial Fund for training of Lay Leadership in children and young people’s ministries as well as for the formation of Young Clergy. Contributing to Clergy formation in the area of ministry to children and young people (skills & attitude) Ex. Consultation 2012

Guiding Principles (BP2020) AYSA covers all young people from age 0 to 35+ Every person in this group must be served and must also serve. Ministry to the young needs to be holistic and continuous. The WHOLE church needs to be supportive and involved in this ministry

Vision (2020) – Goals (AnglicansACT) To strengthen the ministry of young people that is currently taking place at Parish, Diocesan at Provincial level To connect children and young people with Jesus Christ and the Church To protect children and young people To connect young people with the mission of the Church in the world Promote the preservation and strengthening of families Generally promote the protection, development and well-being of children

Pre-requisites . . . (and foundations) Biblical Parents – fully committed and involved Spiritual development of children as early as possible in their lives Well trained and equipped facilitators, teachers, leaders. Well staffed and equipped learning and development facility at Parish level

A New Approach . . . To determine what a child or young person should know, verbalise, live, experience, etc. displayed in appropriate behaviours and involvement To have clearly specified outcomes at any age To be able to adequately equip spiritual development facilitators to ensure those outcomes are achieved.

Project Specifics Appointment of 2 development teams They will develop the outcomes, curricula, materials and programmes for facilitators 6 month training programme for facilitators which includes a 6 day seminar Pilot implementation in 2013 Establish a central office to support the ministry Establish a fund for the training and development of leaders for this ministry
