Classroom News Peek into the week Spelling Pattern Homework Week of December 10, 2018 Parent signature: Mrs. Dasher 912-754-5522 cdasher@effingham.k12.ga.us Peek into the week Spelling Pattern Students will: Reading/Phonics:/Writing - test Wednesday read and spell words with digraphs ch, sh, th, wh; contractions and base words with inflectional ending -ed read The Gingerbread Man and The Gingerbread Girl ask questions, predict, visualize, retell, make inferences, answer questions about key details using text and pictures make hot chocolate and write a how to text telling how to make hot chocolate use the conjunctions because and so to extend sentences Math: test Tuesday solving addition and subtraction word problems including finding how many more and how many fewer (when adding- we join groups; when subtracting –we separate groups) adding 3 numbers Science/Social Studies know that vibrating materials produce sound and sound makes materials vibrate make Christmas ornaments Short vowel words with digraphs chip, patch, shot, thump, whisk can’t, he’ll, I’ve, we’re, it’s Played, jumped, sanded Homework Addition/subtraction practice pages read passages and answer questions sight words (make flash cards) Please initial at the bottom of the sight word list your child is ready to be tested on. read 4 books and record on your log Parents please sign the newsletter (indicating that you’ve read the info) on the line below the date. Special notes Reminders Ice cream is sold every Wednesday for $1. Remember to send in your $3 donation to help buy goodies for our Christmas party! Please let your child read at least 1 book to you daily and record it on his/her log. If you need appropriate leveled books, let me know and I’ll send some home. Many students have finished or are very close to finishing sight word book 1! Yay! So proud of the hard work they’ve put in! These students have been rewarded with a special treat! Now they are starting on book 2. Book 1 is actually the kindergarten word list and book 2 is the first grade list! Let’s get busy and learn our first grade words! December 13- Christmas Concert and Caroling at the Old School House-7pm 14- reading logs for Six Flags due; PTSO birthday celebration; Polar Express Day- wear nice PJ’s and appropriate shoes 17- Country Christmas- wear plaid, bandanas, boots 18- Deck The Halls- wear your best/brightest Christmas colors 19- Frosty Day- dress like a snowman-white shirt, hat, scarf; PBIS inflatable reward; Christmas party at 2:00 20-Jan 2- Christmas Holidays
