Task 13: School today and tomorrow- a comparison (2) 1. What does today’s school look like? (Kids of the same age are put in the same class, learning the same textbooks, taught by a real teacher who is either a man or a woman. Their textbooks are printed on paper. Students go to a fixed place called school to study.)

Task 13: School today and tomorrow - a comparison (3) 2. What does tomorrow’s school as described in the text look like? (Kids stay in their own houses where they are taught regularly and individually by a tele-teacher. The tele-teacher is a programmed computer who is adjusted to fit the mind of each kid. Their books consist of words moving across a telescreen. )

Task 13: School today and tomorrow - a comparison (4) 3. What are the similarities and differences between them? (please refer to p41 of workbook) (Similarities: interaction goes on in the learning. Differences: 1. Books used are different. 2. School is different. 3. Teacher is different. 4. Learning process is different. 5. The relationship with other learners is different.

Task 14: Oral discussion Questions for discussion: Do you think that computers may someday take the place of teachers? Why or why not? Should computers be introduced into the primary school? Why or why not? Do you agree with the view that we should spend more money on educating teachers than buying computers?
