Assessment of ecological impacts of global change on Priority 6 Topic II.2.1.a Topic II.2.2.a Assessment of ecological impacts of global change on freshwater bodies, development of ecological indicators of ecosystem health and remediation strategies River-soil groundwater system functioning 17 proposals out of 188, evaluated in May/June. Two proposals retained (one for each topic). Final decision in July In addition, smaller scale projects were retained (3 research and 1 co-ordination action)

Priority 8 (support to policies) Topic 1.5.5 Topic 1.5.6 Study of the relationships between ecological and chemical status of surface waters in order to link the deterioration of the ecological status to identified chemicals Harmonisation of sampling, screening and testing methods, including comparison through interlaboratory studies, quality control tools for validation and development of new methods Proposals evaluated in April. Two proposals retained (one for each topic). Final decision in July New topic proposed for the second call on the establishment of threshold values for groundwater chemical status assessment
