Dr. Kamlesh Palandurkar Department of Biochemistry IMS BHU Presentation for the Design and Innovation Centre Designing & fabricating of a novel Bilirubin interference removal device for Clinical Laboratories Dr. Kamlesh Palandurkar MBBS,MD,DNB Assistant Professor Department of Biochemistry IMS BHU

The Problem Bilirubin is one of the interfering factors in serum and plasma. Many a diagnostic parameters like Serum creatinine, cholesterol, uric acid and many others tend to show deviated readings in presence of elevated levels of bilirubin i.e. Jaundice.

What we are planning to do?? To design and develop a devise that will intensify this process and will aid transformation of bilirubin so that this bilirubin interference problem can be solved within short period to aid diagnosis. This will use two following principles The black body effect The laser

Treat the sample with these two things and take readings for analytes and bilirubin for the effectiveness of the technique

What are prospects of this design. Petenting the design. Publications Marketing the product as a accessory of the auto analysers or as a independent small instrument which will aid the laboratories to overcome this problem. Time Period Period of this project will be 1.5 to 2 years and it will be completed by that time.

Justification for the budget Sl. No. Item Quantity Estimated cost Justification 1 Equipments Equipment Designing and fabricating. Laser Light emitter and controller 150000/- For Designing and fabricating As Source of light These parts are indispensible and integral part of the design. So their purchase is essential. 2 Contingency Bilirubin standard Reagents for different analyte Kits for Bilirubin, creatinine, cholesterol, urea, uric acid, glucose estimation. 120000/- For Analysing the results of the equipments on the serum analytes 3 Consumables Micropipette ,Micro Tips, Centrifuge tubes , Eppendorf tubes, Vaccutainers, Syringes, Cryoboxes, and chemicals etc. 80000/- Accessories for research purpose Total Rs5,00,000/-

Justification Only indispensable equipment components are being quoted. The Whole Laser assembly costs more than 10 lakhs but I am quoting laser Component required for my experiment of interest. Infrastructure of Department of Physics, BHU and Department of Biochemistry IMS BHU for laser related work will be utilized. The assembly of the equipment and computer assisted designing will be done.

Justification: Bilirubin standard and other chemicals are also expensive. 02199474 MP BIOMEDICALS BILIRUBIN  from Porcine Gall Bladder Orange Yellow Powder CAS Number 635-65-4 Molecular Formula C33H36N4O6 Molecular Weight 584.7 Beilstein Registry Number 74376 EC Number 211-239-7 MDL Number MFCD00005499 0219947491 - 5 g- Rs 71,697.55
