50/50 BY 2015: DEMANDING A STRONG POST 2015 AGENDA SYNOPSIS The organization has managed to organize women in media, women in gender development work. Together with other media organizations, we have managed to change lives of women particularly at grassroots level. We have also managed to influence the government to make changes on various policies and laws e.g. SOSPA. 50/50 BY 2015: DEMANDING A STRONG POST 2015 AGENDA BACKGROUND Women and girls were been discriminated by cultural practices, were not allowed to listen to the radio. Only men and boys were allowed. Women did not even know who was contesting for leadership such as Member of Parliament. They were not aware that women, including the young ones such as Halima Mdee can contest for MP, In general they were cut off from what was happening in the country and even in their area.
