Animals in Legends

Legend of the raft and frogs Legend has it that medieval Torun was haunted by the nagging plague of frogs which, as a result of summer floods, settled in the city. Frogs can be found everywhere: in the streets, they occupy the city. It was announced that if there was a tarp that would free the city from nagging frogs, it would receive a solid payment and the hand of the beautiful daughter of Torun mayor. Many young people came forward. Unfortunately, frogs continued to reign in Torun.  The mayor's daughter has long been in love with a young raft. So he went to the market playing beautiful violinists on his violinists. The frogs who were listened to and excited by the rafting began to gather around him. He moved slowly toward the Gate, and the frogs followed him. Through the gate left the city  Soon was the wedding ......

Legend of the Lech, Czech and Rus In the Polish version of the legend, three brothers went hunting together but each of them followed a different prey and eventually they all traveled in different directions. Rus went to the east, Cech headed to the west to settle on the Rip Mountain rising up from the Bohemain hilly countryside, while Lech traveled north. There, while hunting, he followed his arrow and suddenly found himself face to face with a fierce, white eagle guarding it’s nest from intruders. Seeing the eagle against the red of the setting sun, Lech took this sight as a good omen and decided to settle there. He named his settlement Gniezno in commemoration and adopted the white eagle as his coat of arms. The white eagle remains a symbol of Poland to this day, and the color of the eagle and the color of the setting sun are depicted in Poland’s flag.

Legend of the Poznań goats After the great fire in Poznan, the burnt-out town hall was finally rebuilt. On this occasion the chic opening ceremony of the new. Bartholomew's master was to make a wonderful clock for the town hall tower. It was decided to unveil it during the celebration. The voivodeship was invited along with the spouse, so it was a special occasion. Also in the kitchen there was no shortage of work. The cook had to give a delicious roe deer. Meat was watched by young cook Pietrek, who was very bored with him. He imagined a wonderful clock, ticking, with an amazing mechanism. He could not resist and ran to the tower to see it. The boy had long admired the clock; the roast had fallen into the fire at that time and burned. Pietrek was very scared that he would be punished. So he came up with an idea. He quickly ran to a nearby meadow, where people from the city grazed their animals. When he saw two small goats he decided to replace the roe deer. Little wondered, he took the animals and led them to the town hall. The goats resisted as if they were nearing their end. When they reached the town hall with Pietrak, they broke free and started running. They had no place to go, so they climbed up the stairs until they finally reached the town hall tower. Very scared, they began to jerk with their horns. Meanwhile a large crowd gathered downstairs waiting for the ceremony to begin. Among the guests there was also the mayor and the governor with his wife. They saw two horned corners standing high up on the tower. This view was very amused. The governor demanded that a clock with goats be displayed at the town hall. Bartholomew's master made him, and the mechanism inside him ran the goats, who began to jerk with horns. On the other hand, the chef Petrek was given theft of animals. From that day on the town hall tower there is a clock with two small goats. When the trumpeter wins the bullfinch in the noon, the goats tumble the horns, just like the real ones.
