Weathering- wearing down rocks on the earth's surface, there are 2 types:

Disintegration- (physical weathering) process that breaks large pieces of rock into smaller fragments freeze/thaw flowing water

Decomposition- (chemical weathering) process that forms new substances from minerals in the rock carbonic acid and limestone

Rate of Weathering depends on the composition of the rock, the climate, and the texture (surface area) of the rock.
