(Greece - History) In science we will also have the opportunity to investigate topics such as: Digestive system Sound States of matter Living things and their habitats Electricity

What trips and visitors will the children be having? Overview of trips, visitors and cost HB and HG to also give short presentation about the benefits of going on the trips and what the children will get out of it

Sports Swimming: Year 4 Aqua attend swimming lessons at Chadderton baths every Monday morning. It is expected that every child attends these lessons. Girls needs to wear swimming costumes and Lycra leggings (if needed), a swimming cap and a towel. Boys need netted swimming shorts and a towel. Jewellery and goggles should NOT be provided. Year 4 Peach will start swimming lessons in February – July. PE – Both classes complete PE on Wednesday afternoon. Each child will be required to wear sensible trainers, full school PE kit and bring a water bottle with them. Every child will be expected to participate unless a note from a parent/carer is provided with a genuine reason for absence.

How can you help your child? One of the best ways to help your child with their learning is to read with your child every night Times tables are going to be tested at the end of year 5 , so in year 4 it is vital to practise times tables with your child every night By the end of year 2 children must know their 2, 5 and 10 times tables By the end of Year 3 children must know their 3, 4 and 8 times tables By the end of Year 4 children must know their 6, 7 and 9 times tables Sitting with your children each week to complete their homework is also a great way to help your child. Attending our ‘Sharing Our Success’ afternoons will help to keep you up to date with what your child is learning Attending parent evenings is a great way to get a personalised and more detailed update of your child’s learning.

Homework Children will receive spellings on Friday and will be tested on these spellings the following Friday. Children will receive timetables on a Friday and will be tested on these spellings the following Friday. Holiday Homework – Near the end of each term, holiday homework will be set. This type of homework till allow children to explore more about their ongoing topic. Children are expected to complete as many as they can and return them by the end of the half term so their achievements can be celebrated and shared with the class. For each piece of homework received, your child will earn a dojo for showing integrity.

Holiday Homework

How you can contact the teachers? Year 4 class teachers will be available to speak to at the year 3 classroom doors before and after school. We will also be available to speak to on ‘Sharing our Success Days’ and Parents Evening.

Any questions?
