Our Mission Referee all scheduled league games to the best of our ability. It’s a team effort!

Our Goal SAFE FAIR

South Shore Soccer League uses the Arbiter assigning program. Assigning System South Shore Soccer League uses the Arbiter assigning program. www.arbitersports.com

First Step Profile Tab Main Tab Check off: “Ready to be Assigned” Go to: www.arbitersports.com Main Tab Check off: “Ready to be Assigned” (Exception) Profile Tab Update your profile, DOB, contact and mailing info.

Step Two Find out what other commitments you have. Proms, Graduations, Weddings, etc. Check with your family, church, employer, school, and “Block” accordingly.

Step Three “Block” times & dates that you cannot work. You can also “Block” a part of the day. Update your “Blocks” as often as necessary to keep them current. (See tutorial on “Blocking” if needed)

Important Note When “Blocking”, be mindful of game starting times. Also, think about what time a game ends.

Example 1 If you Block up to 3:00 pm, Arbiter will not allow you to be assigned to a game starting 3:00pm. What do you do if you do want to work at 3:00 pm, but not before? “Block” to 2:45pm.

Example 2 The 3:00 pm U-14 game takes 75 minutes to complete, ends at 4:15pm. Arbiter will not assign you to that 3:00 pm game if you “Block” from 4:15 on. Instead, block from 4:30 on.

Update your Blocks Nothing ticks off an assignor more than having to find a last minute replacement for a referee because they “forgot to Block”. This isn’t fair to the teams, players, or to the Referees who have to cover for you. If your availability changes, you can Update your “Blocks” as often as necessary.

You may “Block” up to 3 Teams. You may “Block” up to 3 Partners. Optional BLOCKING You may “Block” up to 3 Teams. You may “Block” up to 3 Partners.

You are blocked from Refereeing: Your own Town (except for Under 10s) Any age/division in which you are a coach. Players/teams your own age; Any situation where the appearance of impropriety may occur.

Respect the Game Avoid “Conflicts of Interest”, “No Win” Situation Brings the game into disrepute

How do I get assignments? Arbiter will send assignments by email. (texting is available for a fee) Uncovered assignments may be available for “self-assign”

How do I accept assignments? Go to www.arbitersports.com “Accept” or “Decline” Can “turnback” up to 14 days prior to game.

Responsibility By “accepting” a game assignment, you are assuming responsibility for that match. People are counting on you. Show up and give it your best. By “declining” you are blocking yourself from receiving any assignments for that time on that day.

Last minute cancellations? Emergencies: Make contact with all parties, including me, and get confirmation. Talk to someone. A Text may not be enough.

Arbiter Assignments Most Assignments are made randomly by Arbiter based on your availability and game criteria. Some assignments are made manually to accommodate mentor relationships, travel considerations, etc.

About Arbiter Arbiter tries to keep game counts even. I try to keep them proportionate to availability, as well. From week to week your number of games may change, but all should average out in the end.

About Arbiter cont’d I will try to make sure that Referee assignments are proportional. One Middle for every two ARs

About Arbiter cont’d Once emailed, you have three (3) days in which to “Accept or Decline”. If you do not respond within 3 days, Arbiter “Blocks” you from assignments for that time and date. Check your email daily.

Multiple Game Set If you can only do part of a set of games, don’t decline the whole set. Let me know and I’ll see if I can re-assign you.

Not Happy with your assignments? If you have any questions or complaints about your assignments, please let me know. Don’t complain to your partner, they can’t fix it. Call me, together we’ll get to the bottom of it.

Physically and Mentally ready! Preparation Know the: “Laws Of The Game” (and their Proper Application) Be familiar with: “Procedures for Referees” Physically and Mentally ready!

Bring you Referee ID Card Preparation Know the field location and contact info for all parties. If in doubt about the field location, don’t wait until game day. Call coach or field coordinator on the day before. Bring you Referee ID Card CDC Certificate

Report File a Report on Arbiter promptly. Check to verify names of AR’s. (This is how they get paid, too.) Cautions and/or Send offs

Remember SAFE FAIR

Thanks for all you do! Dennis
