Getting to know you and learning a bit more about you. Activity 1: Good communication skills in activity 1. Activity 2: Bullet pointed, detailed ideas. Activity 3: Paragraphs that show you can use, capital letters, full stops and connectives. Write WILF in your book.

For these activities we need to sit in a circle. For the first part of the activity… We’re going to go around the circle and check we know everybody’s name and check in with everybody – we will take it in turns to: Turn to the person next to you and ask: Hi (name), how are you? The person responds with: For the second part of the activity… I have got a big bag of chocolate M&Ms – is there anybody who’s allergic to M&Ms? The M&Ms will be passed around the circle, you need to take one (you can eat it!) and tell us: Red M&M = Something about yesterday Orange M&M = Something you do well Yellow M&M = Something you did when you were younger Blue M&M = Something you learnt last week Brown M&M = Something you can’t live without Green M&M = Something you enjoy watching or listening to Good day  Okay day Bad day 

going to be given a triangular piece of bunting. Activity 2: Bullet pointed, detailed ideas. To help us to learn more about you everybody is going to be given a triangular piece of bunting. You need to complete the gaps with information about yourself – look at the WILF at the top of the slide and remember what it said for this activity. You will be given a time limit for this activity. Complete this activity well, you will need it for the following activity.

When do we use full stops? What are connectives? Can you name some? Activity 3: Paragraphs that show you can use, capital letters, full stops and connectives. Now that you have completed your bunting, you’re going to use what you have written on it to tell us some more things about yourself. You will be given a worksheet where you will need to write 3 paragraphs. We will use this writing to learn more about you as a person, but also to look at the way you write. So, remember the WILF: Activity 3: Paragraphs that show you can use, capital letters, full stops and connectives. When do we use capital letters? When do we use full stops? What are connectives? Can you name some? We have connective mats to help you with these!

Tell me three things… At the start of the lesson we said… Getting to know you and learning a bit more about you. Activity 1: Good communication skills in activity 1. Activity 2: Bullet pointed, detailed ideas. Activity 3: Paragraphs that show you can use, capital letters, full stops and connectives. Tell me three things… How well have we achieved the WALT and WILF? How well have you helped us to get to know you? To show me how well you’ve achieved the WALT and WILF … you have 3 minutes to write down 3 things in your book – these need to be what you think are the three most important things that we need to remember about you ready for September.
