Year 4 Spring 1 I am Warrior! Science English P.E Maths R.E ICT As scientists this half term we will be researching electricity. We will look at important scientist who researched different ways we can use electricity. The children will also learn how electricity is generated. For our investigations this half term we will be looking at created a electrical circuit and switches. English Using our topic theme on Romans we will be working on creating pieces of writing in: Soliloquys – Children will put themselves in a Roman soldiers shoes before a battle and explain their thoughts. Historical Narrative – Children will write a narrative creating a character that will join Boudica on her rebellion against the Romans. Recount – Children will recount the story of Romulus and Remus and famous Roman myth. P.E Our P.E lessons will continue to be on a Wednesday afternoon, we will be focusing creative movement. This half term we will also be continuing swimming, children will be going swimming on a Thursday morning. Maths This half term we will be working on: Measurment– Convert between different units of measure Measure and calculate the perimeter of a rectangular shapes in cm and m Find the area of a shape by counting squares Estimate and compare different measurements including money Read and convert time between analogue and digital, 12 and 24 hour clocks. R.E This term in R.E we will be looking at the community of the church and how the church supports and guides its local parish. ICT For our ICT work this half term children will be developing their understanding of programing, children will learn what algorithms are and how computer programs work.
