Thursday February 16, 2017 Grand Central Terminal opened February 2 1913, in New York city. People were amazed by the train stations marble staircase tall windows, and cieling painted with stars. The new electric trains were safer then older steam trains. Years later, some talked about nocking down the terminal. others fought to save it. Work was done to fix the station and bring back it’s beauty. To day, travelers enjoy this piece of history.

ACT English Practice Test Trade your packet from yesterday with a partner and grab a colored writing utensil Write your name at the bottom of your partner’s paper Reminder: Circle or X-out the number of any question your partner gets wrong, and make sure you circle the correct option. We’re going to go over the first section, or the first fifteen questions of the practice test from yesterday. Make sure at the end of our review that you give your partner a total out of fifteen (#29- 45) at the end of the section. 

Hamlet: Film Comparison Today, we’re going to watch Act 1 from Gregory Doran’s 2009 Hamlet, which is a more modern interpretation. As we watch this version, your first job is to compare the film with the original text, just like yesterday. You should look for differences in characterization, plot, and any cinematic techniques that you think add something “more” that wasn’t present in the text. Once we finish, your job will be to argue which version is “best.”

Hamlet: Film Comparison After you finish your Venn Diagram, complete your response to the prompt on the back of your handout: Prompt: Now that you have seen Act 1 of both film versions of Hamlet, you should decide which version is the best. Your response should discuss at least three major differences between both film versions – one of which should be Hamlet’s characterization. As you discuss each difference, state which version you preferred and explain why. If you finish your prompt early, you are welcome to finish your character maps or your character journals if you’re not finished yet. Remember, both assignments are due today! 
