15th Meeting of the Working Group on Programme of Measures, Economic and Social Analysis (WG POMESA) Action Points 30 January 2017

Article 8.1c – Assessment of an economic and social analysis Analysis of the use of marine waters / human activities: Marine waters account – no changes – focus is on ‘past trends’. Link 1st and 2nd cycles Table 2a and 2b categories to be used in reporting sheets. ‘Characterisation’ open field can be filled in with additional information to further describe the data input. Ecosystem services approach – no changes. Further discussion needed with MS that are actually using this approach. WG POMESA members wanting to maintain the ecosytem services approach are requested to submit written comments to the COM. Other approaches – no changes, but does refer to new Annex III New optional reporting sheet with fields that include: ‘future scenarios / projections’ and ‘strategic objectives’

Article 8.1c – Assessment of an economic and social analysis Cost of degradation Cost based approach – no changes Ecosystem services approach - no changes. Further discussion needed with MS that are actually using this approach. WG POMESA members wanting to maintain the ecosytem services approach are requested to submit written comments to the COM. Thematic approach - no changes Proposal for a fourth category – ‘Other approaches’ - allow MS to report mixed / other approaches

Article 10 - socio-economic aspects and targets Linking revised targets with measures in 2018 reporting: agreed. Fields to be automatically pre-filled with previously reported information. MS may validate / edit / delete as they see fit Fields for reporting the associated indicators to the targets remain the same.

Action By who When 2012 Reporting Guidance / Sheets to be edited based on comments at this WG POMESA meeting COM 2-3 February 2017 Written comments on revised PPT & revised 2012 reporting guidance of DG ENV to be sent to COM WG POMESA 9 February 2017 Indicate interest supporting the drafting of a WG (POM)ESA background paper on past work to Rob Van Veeren (NL) Next meeting - dates remained inchanged, even if nature of the meeting could be modified: 1st-2nd March 2017 : WG DIKE 10 March : WG GES 5th April : WG POMESA or joined reporting meeting (to be confirmed) 27th-28th April : MSCG & regulatory Committee 12nd May : Integrared coastal management expert group or reporting meeting (to be confirmed)
