Student Achievement Grant Read to Lead Student Achievement Grant

Objectives To enhance primary students’ reading and language proficiencies, Mrs. Sierka will implement research- based Response to Intervention (RtI) program to enhance students’ reading abilities, confidence and academic success. Read and Lead will provide the most struggling readers, mostly English Language Learners (ELLs) and students from poverty, with extended time to promote love of reading and critical thinking in a language enriching environment.

Description “From READers to LEADers is a program for struggling and economically disadvantaged students to provide them with supplemental core instruction as a part of developing RtT framework. Numeral studies presented evidence that students from poverty and non-English speaking backgrounds perform below the grade level, especially in the early age. The goal for this project is to provide reluctant readers with equal opportunities in language enriched and fun educational environment, so they would develop skills necessary to become successful critical readers to grow into confident leaders.
