How do Cornwall and Regan take control in Act 2 Scene 1 and Scene 2?

How do Cornwall and Regan take control in Act 2 Scene 1 and Scene 2? The opposing question here is, “How is Lear losing control?” The two ideas are running side by side: Lear’s grip is slipping whilst his daughters’ power is gaining.

In the ‘love test’ scene, Regan speaks after Goneril but before Cordelia. She manipulates Lear and uses hyperbolic descriptions of her feelings to gain his favour. At the end of the scene, we plans to deal with their cantankerous father and strip him of any power he has left. In Act 2, Cornwall and Regan are aware that Lear is on his way to them after removing himself from Goneril’s home. She sides with her sister, and her show of defiance in not being home to welcome him is another attack on the king.

When Cornwall and Regan first arrive on stage (II:II:86), how are they presented? Think about: Their language; Their unified front; The way they control the other characters. In Act 2 Scene 2, Cornwall controls the disagreement between Kent and Oswald. How does he respond in this situation? How does Regan get involved? Language?
