Dinosaur Ghosts Vocabulary

Erosion

Erosion Definition: all the natural processes that wear away earth and rock Sentence: The shoreline was further back due to erosion.

Evidence

Evidence Definition: the data used to draw a conclusion Sentence: After gathering all of the evidence, the cops made an arrest.

Excavation

Excavation Definition: the process of finding something by digging for it Sentence: The class got to go with the scientists on an excavation.

Extinct

Extinct Definition: no longer living on the earth; having died out Sentence: Dinosaurs are extinct.

Fossils

Fossils Definition: the hardened remains of animals or plants of prehistoric times Sentence: The scientists found many fossils during their hunt.

Geologists

Geologists Definition: scientists who study the earth’s crust and its rocks Sentence: The geologists were very excited when they found dinosaur remains.

Hypotheses

Hypotheses Definition: scientific suggestions, based on what is known so far Sentence: The students made a hypotheses about how much the plant would grow.

Paleontologist

Paleontologist Definition: a scientist who studies prehistoric life Sentence: We got to meet a paleontologist at the museum.

Specimens Definition: samples taken for scientific study Sentence: The scientists collected many specimens from the field.

Theory

Theory Definition: a scientific thought on how something happened (not 100% proven) Sentence: After they collaborated, they had a theory as to what happened.
