Page set-up: the basics Your page must have 1-inch margins Acceptable fonts: Times-New Roman, or Arial Size 12 point font

Page Setup- Margins Set margins to 1-inch Click OK Top Bottom Left Right Click OK
Page Setup: Font Select Font Select Size Choose Times New Roman or Arial Select Size Choose 12 point
Page header instructions Click on View Select Header and Footer
Header instructions (cont’d) Click on Align Right Type your last name Add a space after your name
Adding page # to header Click on Icon to insert the page number Note: this inserts it into every page and it will be correctly numbered Your paper is now properly numbered Click on Close to complete this section.
Page formatting –line spacing Step 1 –set line spacing Click on Line spacing icon Set to 2.0 (it will now be double-spaced)
Add Name, Teacher, Class, Date
Title Add title of your paper Click the Center button to center it on the page Note: the title is not in bold print or underlined
Begin your paper After typing your title, click on Enter Click Tab Begin typing your essay
New paragraph After concluding a paragraph Click Enter Click Tab, begin typing the next paragraph
Proper format of paragraphs Note the centered title, indented paragraphs and line spacing (double-spaced)
